« USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Schedules Listening Session for Knox and Lincoln Counties Farmers: 02/09/12 »
Bangor, Maine – February 6, 2012 – The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will hold a public listening session in Waldoboro on Friday, February 17, 2012 to solicit comments regarding their plan to consolidate the Knox-Lincoln NRCS office in Warren.
This action is being taken as a result of budget reductions to NRCS. This means that NRCS cannot maintain every existing county office location and continue to provide producers the best possible customer service. Their plan is to service Lincoln County agricultural and forest producers out of the Augusta office and Knox County producers out of the Belfast office.
The listening session will take place on February 17th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Office, 377 Manktown Road, Waldoboro. State Conservationist Juan Hernandez will be present to take the comments. If you cannot attend the session but would like to submit comments, please submit them to Juan Hernandez by Friday, February 24th, at the following address: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, 967 Illinois Avenue, Suite #3, Bangor, ME 04401.
Persons with disabilities who require accommodations to attend or participate in this meeting should contact Elaine Tremble, NRCS Public Affairs Specialist, at 207-990-9569, by no later than Monday, February 13th.
