    Volunteer Opportunities

The District sponsors many interesting projects and events throughout the year and we often need an extra pair of hands. There is sure to be an opportunity that is perfectly suited to your interests or skills.

Here are just a few of the events or projects that could use your special attention:

    Event organizing

Conservation Fair - This annual event for elementary or middle-school students needs your help with set-up, break-down, interacting with kids, or volunteering to be a presenter on an environmental or agricultural theme in your area of interest or expertise. FMI: Conservation Fair

Plant Sale - Whether you know a lot about plants or not, we can use your help!
Give us a hand with pulling pre-orders, helping customers with plant selection and questions, or giving a short talk on a plant or garden-related topic. Or perhaps you would like to help out with "ringing up" sales, traffic and parking, or pre-sale set-up. FMI: Plant Sale

    Environmental education

Read ME Agriculture - Read a book on agriculture to K-4 grade students. FMI: Read ME Ag

NACD Poster Contest - Help judge K-6 posters on a natural resource theme. FMI: Poster

Envirothon - Be an advisor to a team for this exciting high school environmental competition. FMI: Envirothon

Enviroscape Watershed Model - Learn about this interactive study model and share your knowledge with students in the classroom.

Are you looking for a winter shop project? We would like to offer bird houses, bat houses, and native bee nesting kits at our Plant Sale, but we need someone to fabricate the kits. We also need some simple wooden frames built for plant sale signs.

Are you a photographer? We always need good photographs of our special events and are usually too busy - and too unskilled - to take them.

    Office help

There is always more to do! Help us with mailings or organizing our shelves of information.

Are you a little tech savvy? You can help us make our website into a better resource. We have lots of ideas for new pages, but not always enough time to get them up.

    Graphic design

We would love for someone with experience - and a bit of free time - to help us get our message across by improving our brochure and annual report design and layout.

    Associate supervisors

In addition to our voting board, the District is advised by non-voting associates with a variety of skills or backgrounds - foresters, farmers, town managers, conservation commission members, contractors, accountants, arborists, teachers, to name a few. The main requirement is a strong interest in conservation or conservation education!

If you are interested in any of these opportunities or would like to talk about other ways that you might help, please fill out the form below or get in touch with Hildy at (207) 596 2040 or hildy@knox-lincoln.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
